Mr Whitaker moved to add to Mr Rees’s motion words to the effect that the committee inquire into the charges; made against Mr Ormond and Sir G. Grey, and into the alleged improper lawsuits in Hawke’s Bay. Mr Whitaker’s amendment was rejected by 26 to 25. The debate on the original motion was continued till the adjournment, at 1.20 a.m.
