POST-OFFICE NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post-office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations:— Saturday, August 25. Mails per Arawata will close as under For the United Kingdom via Southampton and Brindisi, at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For Otago,'Australian Colonies, India, China and the East, the Continent of Europe, Ac., at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. Newspapers, book packets, registration of letters and money orders, at noon. The Brindisi mail, per, Arawata, is due in Loudon Oct 22m1. The Southampton mail, per Arawata, is due in Loudon, Oct 20th. The box in the guard’s van, Christchurch Railway Station, can be used for Arawata’s mails up to 2.30 p.m., but letters so posted must, in addition to the ordinary postage, bear one additional single rate of postage as a late fee. For Kaikouras and Wellington, per Tui, at ■1.45 p.m. The late box, guard’s van, must not be used for Tui's mails. J. J, FITZGIBBON, Chief Postmaster.
