Mails close at the Chief Post-office for the following places as under, subject to necessary alterations : Wednesday, August 22. For Otago, overland, at 6 a.m. For Akaroa and Otago, per Tarauaki, at 11 a.m.; late letters, 11.20 a.m.; railway station, 12.10 p.m. train. For Wellington aud Sydney, per Easby, at 3 p.m.; late letters, 0.20 p.m.; railway station, 4 \>.m. train. For Wellington, per St. Kilda, at '.'> p.m.: late letters, 3.20 p.m.; railway station, 4 p.m. train. Friday, Auoust 24. Mails per Kotorua will close as under:— For United Kingdom, via Sau Francisco, the Ojiitineut of Europe, America, Canada, Sandwich Islands, Sydney, Brisbane, <ic, at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For Northern Ports of New Zealand, at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For money orders and registered letters, uoou. Newspapers and book packets, noon. The mail despatched per Rotorua will be due at London Oct. 11th. Late letters for mails per Rotorua eau be posted iu the guard's van, Christcliureh Railway Stiition, by 2.30 p.m. train, provided such letters bear an additional single rate of postage as a late fee. Satukday, August 25. For United Kingdom via Southampton and Brindisi, Australian Colonies, India, China and the East, Otago, &c., at 1 p.m. For Local Mails see Postal Guide No. 15. J. J.
