ADDITIONAL NEWS BY THE SUEZ MAIL.
[BY TEEEGRAPH FROM THE DUNEDIN CORRESPONDENT OF THE PRESS.] Late telegrams via, Suez are to July 22nd. It is rumoured that the French Government are considering an excuse for the arrest of M. Gambetta, so as to keep him from using his influence on the elections. The French Ambassador at Berlin lias gone on a special mission from President MacMahon to convince Germany that he has been compelled to change his Ministry in order to encounter the increasing radicalism of France. The reinforcements in Alsace and Lorraine are to consist of Bavarian and-South German troops, in order to signify to France that Southern Germany is quite united with Prussia. In Greece the war feeling is very strong. Endeavours are being made by the war party to embroil the Government with Turkey. A rupture nearly occurred through the seizure at Corfu of arms for Turkey, but the difficulty was arranged by Austrian mediation. Prince Gortschakoff has made the amende honorable re the Grand Duke's reception of Colonel AVellesley. His position, however, is said to be very unpleasant. A coolness has arisen between Mr Layard and the Porte, in consequence of his representations not receiving proper attention. The promised Bulgarian amnesty has never yet been carried out. Ardahan has been retaken by the Turks.
