The parcel stamp system for facilitating the transmission of parcels on the Victorian Kailways will be introduced early this month. The dies for the stamps have been cut, and the latter are being printed. The dateless pas-senger-ticket system cannot, owing to the attention required by other matters, be commenced for some time. I O U’s to the amount of £2,500,000 were recently sold for £250. They had been handed over the gambling tables at Hamburg, and were regarded as worthless. The present owner, however, threatens to furnish names unless they are paid. The “ Liverpool Mercury” reports that a family named Lawrence, of Ellesmere, have lost all their six children by diphtheria, the origin of which has been clearly traced. Some of the children being thirsty while they were out, a glass of water was procured for them from a cottage, and it turned out that in the house a child was at the time suffering from the disease. Professor Anderson used to perform seme astounding tricks. We have, for instance, seen him pour several kinds of wines —apparently —out *of the same bottle. But we know of far more wonderful bottles than the Professor’s. There is the most positive testimony to prove that disorders of the stomach, kidneys, respiratory organs, fevers of an intermittent and remittent type, and all diseases requiring invigorative treatment, are cured by the agreeable contents of the bottles which hold Udolpho Wolfe’s Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps.— [Advt.]
