CHKISTCHUKCH. Friday, August 17. (Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., KM., and J. T. Brown, Esq., J.P.) Wife Desertion. —James Gamble, on remand, was charged with deserting his wife. Ordered to pay 15s per week, to be paid fortnightly to the Clerk of the Court at Christchurch. Obtaining Goods by False Pretences. —W. J. Kirton, was brought up on remand, charged with obtaining goods by false pretences from Alexander Anderson. In reply to a question from the Bench, accused stated that he was at present employed by the Heathcote Road Board. The Bench cautioned the accused as to his future conduct, and warned him that if he came before it again he would not be so leniently dealt with. In consideration of his wife and family the Bench would dismiss the present charge against him, but strongly advised him to treat his debts to different tradesmen as obligations to be discharged on the first opportunity.
