Before proceeding to the business, MiBrandon read a paper to the effect that, having learnt of the action taken by Mr Barton against, the Supreme Court judges, lie wished, on behalf of the Bar, to prevent the public being mislead, to state that it was done without previous consultation with the Bar ; that they were ignorant of its statements and had no sympathy with a course so unprecedented in its character. The Chief Justice thanked the assembled Bar tor their expressed sympathy and confidence, but desired to say nothing to deprecate enquiry into his conduct. It was the privilege of every British subject, if lie had well grounded complaint against a Judge, to ask for his removal at the hands of the
Legislature. Mr J ustice Richmond concurred. He gloried in the liability of having their conduct investigated at any time. That was a guarantee to the public of the proper administration of the Court. At the proper time and place ho should be glad to meet any accusation against him. Mabton, August 15.
