Safety of the Passengers, [SKOM THE COEBESPOJTDSKT Or THE PRESS.] August 11, 13.50 ii,m. The p.s. Manawatn has just arrived at. the outer anchorage with the crew of Captain Davis’s boat. Sin; arrived at Port Hardy at 3 p.iii. and found (he captain and crew. They report that they left the wreck at G p.m. on Tuesday. They had fearful weather during tlie night, and at dusk on Wednesday made Port Hardy. The weather was very rough, the boat capsized on landing, drowning the carpenter, and slashing the fg»t fit Ml’
Hilliard, a passenger. Two men wont out on the hills and were missing. They are all in a very emaciated condition, having had nothing to oat since leaving the ship. Just after leaving Port Hardy the Manawatu met the Lyttelton, which had searched the other side of the bay. She will loolc for the two missing men.
[per press agency.] Nelson, August 11—1 p.m. The cutter with the Qqieen Pee passengers was found by the Naval .Brigade boat at Mr Elenslio’s place, Durville’s Island, near the French Pass. They are all safe and well now at Wakapuwaka,[Cable Bay, and will leave for Nelson at three this afternoon.
