MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, August 6. (Before C. R. Blakiston, Esq. and Dr Dcaiucr, ‘ (T.B’s.) Drunk Ano DisoudkiiljY. Two inebriates, who appeared for tho first time, were each fined us. Joseph Edwards \ was fined lUs ; Lawrence Ryan, us ; James Allen, 60s, or in default ninety-six hours’ imprisonment; John Barker, 40s, or in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment; Thomas Gillin, us, and 2s 6d damage to cab. Obscene Language.—Henry Buckingham, for he ng drunk and disorderly and using obscene language, was lined 20s, or in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. Obstructing a Thorough iare.—The adjourned case against Henry Ballinger, for obstructing the Hazeldcan road by not leaving sufficient room for a vehicle to pass, was called on. Mr Thomas, who appeared for defendant, stated that the Rev Mr Smalley and Mrs Smalley had called at Lis office, and stated their wish that the ease should be withdrawn. Inspector Feast stated that the case had been taken up by the police at the request of Mr and Mrs Smalley. Case dismissed.
