ROAD BOARDS

AVON. Tlie Board met on July 23rd. Present — The Chairman and Messrs Dickinson and Munroe. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The surveyor’s report was read and considered. With regard to the 'damage done to the road in the Sandhills by the flood; the surveyor was authorised to have the same repaired. Offers were received from Darker, also from Free, to form and clay Hadley’s road, and finally the offer of Free was accepted. Letter was received from the Church Property Trustees re roads on section 243 b. The clerk was instructed to reply that at present nothing could be done, but as soon as possible an estimate of the probable cost will be and the work put in hand. Letter was received from Mr Deßourbel, asking to have a few loads of shingle put on the road leading to his residence. Letter received from Mr E. Barker re New Brighton road. The surveyor was instructed to see the road and report upon it. Letter was received from the Heathcote Eoad Board authorising the acceptance of _ Mr Goss’s tender tor the Stanmore Bridge. Requisition was received from inhabitants of Knightstown asking the Board to widen the north end of Crescent road. With respect to footpath on Wakefield road, the surveyor was instructed to report as to the expense. Accounts to the amount of £376 17s were passed and ordered to be paid.
