PARLIAMENTARY INCIDENTS
[from the corkesbondent of the press.] Wellington, July 26.
The motion to put Mr Tcschemaker’s name on the Waste Lands Committee was carried last night, on the voices, after some highflown talk about the omission of the Auckland members by Sir George Grey, which was demolished by Mr Reid stating Sir George never attended the Lands Committee once last year. Sir George gave notice that he will move to-morrow to add the names of Messrs Lusk and Hamlin. There will probably be a division.
Mr Rees, having arrived to-day, will be able to take part in the debate. Mr Rollcstou will ask to-morrow if the Government intend to establish an asylum for the deaf and dumb.
Mr Stevens has questions ou the Order Paper asking when Sir Julius Vogel’s engagement terminates, and what volunteer scrip there is afloat.
Mr Fitzroy will raise the subject of harbor defences, and Mr Wakefield will ask for a return of police officers, with their grades and dates of appointment. The first ball of the season will bo given by the Hon. Gr. McLean, ia tho Provincial .Ha U, next Thursday, for which tho House will probably be asked to adjourn.
