FATAL ACCIDENT.

A fatal accident happened to-day in Madras street South, near the Railway Station, by which a son of Mr F. Allen, aged two and a half years, lost his life. The child was crossing the road in front of a butcher’s cart driven by a lad named John Hicks in the employ of Mr Lane. The driver on seeing the danger endeavored to pull up, but before he could do so, the boy was knocked down and the wheel of the cart passed over his back, killing him instantaneously. The body was removed to the house of the parents, where an inquest will be held.
