ROAD BOARDS.

HEATHCOTB. The Board met at 2 p.m. on Thursday, the 10th inst., at the Board office. Present — Messrs. S. Manning (chairman), E. Jones, W. Hawker, and AY. Langdown. Minutes read and confirmed. Barnett, as to trees dohig damage to Old Stanmorc road, and that the side <• haanels want clearing. The foregoitK* were j ’efnTed to the works committee. Onus’ Word stale of footpath in Avouville. Attended W - I’Mmer, a ! , lo Impounding cattle. To be further considered at the next meeting. treasurer to Drainage Board, calling attention to section 90 ol Drainage Act. The clerk to see Mr Palmer on the subject. Colonial Secretary, stating that the Regulation of Local Elections Act. 1*76, was brought into force within road district, and forward copy of “Gazette containing the proclamation. The works committee ■were requested lo see Messrs VVlutclau, Prowsc, and others with reference to dedi rating the land required lor a lootpath. Several applications for remission ol rates were dealt with. Mr Langdown’s name was added to the finance committee, and Messrs -Manning and W. Hawker were appointed

chairmen of finance and works committees respectively. It was resolved to forward the suggestions that were agreed to by the special meeting of the Board convened to consider a circular from the General Government, asking for suggestions to be embodied in the Road Board Act intended to be introduced this session, to the Government and the members for the district. Tenders were accepted for the formation of McGregor’s road, breaking metal, additions to cottage, and building stable. Accounts amounting to £BB7 Tls 7d were passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
