GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
__ *. After the Governor's speech in the Legislative Council, the Hon. Dr Pollen gave notice to move for the introduction of the following Bills—To provide for the establishment and maintenance of the Armed Constabulary force. To consolidate and amend the laws relating to Friendly and other Societies. In the House of Eepresentatives the following new members were sworn in: — Hon. Grisborne, Sutton, Beetham, and Wallis. Mr Fox was introduced by the Premier and Mr Kichardson. A number of petitions were presented, papers laid on the table, and notices of motion given. Mr Beetham gave notice to move an address in reply. Mr G-isborne gave notice to move for correspondence relating to the sale of the Luna. Mr Reid gave notice of motion for introducing of Bills to amend the goldflelds legislation, for the eradication of scab in sheep, and to regulate the management of public pounds. Mr Bowen will introduce the Bill relating to education.
Major Atkinson will, on next sitting day, introduce a Bill dealing with crpsspd cheques. Both Houses adjourned till the following day at 3.30. A few slight alterations have been made in the Chamber since last session. The Ministry have moved more info the Chamber, and several hollow pillars (apparently Tobin's ventilators), are scattered through the Chambers.
There was a very large attendance of members in the House of Representatives.
