CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, July 14. (Before Gr. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly. —Wm. Warner, who had been repeatedly before the Court recently, was fined 60s and cab hire, and cautioned that the next time he appeared in Court he would be sent to gaol for twelve months. John Shiers was fined ss. Mary Holmes, an old offender, charged with being drunk and using obscene language in Gloucester street, was fined 60s,

Abusive Language. —The adjourned summons case, Greenlaw v Wagner, was called on. Complainant had been employed at the Clarendon Hotel as billiard marker, and on the 4th July, according to his statement, Mrs Wagner ordered him out of the bar, and called him a liar and thief. It was shown that he had been repeatedly told not to go behind the bar. Christina Smith, called by complainant, stated that on the date mentioned she was in the kitchen, and heard Mrs A Vaguer call Greenlaw a thief and liar. They had been quarrelling before this. Witness did not hear any other words used. Mr Thomas, who appeared for defendant,- called several witnesses, who stated that they did not hear any quarrelling between Mrs Wagner and the billiard marker on that day. The boots, called, stated that on the 4th complainant rushed into the kitchen, and told witness he was off, and would get £lO out of Mrs Wagner for having called him a thief and a rogue. His Worship imposed a fine of 10s.

LYTTELTON. Saturday, July 14. [Before H. Allwright, Esq., J.P.] Drunkenness and Using Obscene Language.—John Presk, arrested by Constable Bullen, was charged with the above offence, and fined 10s, or, in default, forty-eight hours’ hard labour.
