Solicitors : Messrs Hanmer and Harper. This Company is organised in response to the wish of a large number of capitalists, merchants, and others, who have already promised a considerable amount of support, and with the intent of offering to the general body of the public a further opportunity of becoming, as far as possible, their own insurers. The increase of insurable property in this colony has been so rapid that there is, in the opinion of the promoters, ample scope for the operations of another Company. The Fire and Marine Insurance Companies already formed have met with such great and unvarying success, that it is quite unnecessary to refer to the profitable nature of such undertakings, but it may be pointed out that this colony is subject to natural conditions singularly favorable to insurance business. One of the most important con siderations involved is the distribution of risks, which is here secured through the division of population and, consequently, of insurable property amongst numerous centres as yet but sparsely occupied. The large proportion of substantial buildings now being erected may also be noted as a feature favorable to the limitation of risks in this enterprise. One of the most profitable branches of Marine Insurance is in interprovincial and and intercolonial business, a largejproportion of which the promoters have reason to rely upon. In the allotment of shares the Provisional Directors will endeavor to secure an equitable distribution throughout the colony, so as to combine a powerful association of investors for the security of the assured, together with persons likely to influence business. Agencies will be opened throughout the colony as speedily as possible, and local Directors appointed. The Chief Office is established at Christchurch. The following gentlemen will hold office as Directors until the first annual meeting, when they will retire in accordance with the articles of Association Messrs J. Studholme, W. Reeves, T. M. Hassal, J. Palmer, J. T. Peacock, W. Montgomery, G. G. Stead, and W. D. Carruthers. The Directors intend to secure the services of a thoroughly experienced and competent General Manager for the Company. Copies of the prospectus and forms of applications for shares may be obtained at any of the branches of the Union Bank of Australia throughout New Zealand, where applications for shares, accompanied by a deposit of 2s 6d per share, can now be made. All applications will be forwarded to Christchurch as received. The share list will close on the 15th August. 5056 PEARS 1 PEARS 1 !
