CHRISTCHURCH GAS COMPANY.
An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders was held yesterday afternoon at the company's offices, Gloucester street. The chair was occupied by Mr E. G. Wright, chairman of the Board of Directors, who read the advertisement calling the meeting, and said that it would be necessary under the provisions of the Joint Stock Companies Act that some shareholder should move a resolution bearing on .the purpose for which the meet ing had been called. Mr. Tipping moved the following resolution : " That the directors are hereby authorised to declare an ad interim dividend of six per cent upon the paid up capital of the company, pavable on the 14th July, 1877." The Rev T. R. Fisher seconded the resolution, which was unanimously agreed to. The Chairman said that concluded the business for which the meeting had been called, but the shareholders woiild be glad to hear that the business of the Company had doubled itself during the last three and a half years. The meeting then closed.
