The Russian Defeat at Batoum. Singapore, July 2. The news from Batoum [that the Russians have been completely defeated there] is substantially confirmed. A Russian despatch states that the Russians have carried the advanced entrenchment of Zivin [ ? Widdin], Wellington', July 3. On yesterday's cable message, dated Singapore, June 30th, being repeated from Sydney, it was found that the following items were left out: —The Russians have occupied Sistova. Thirty thousand Russians have crossed the Danube. Wheat Falling. Singapore, July 2. The price of wheat has fallen owing to large foreign imports. INTERPROVINCIAL. Wellington, July 3. Arrived —Clan Alpine, from Lyttelton. Dttnedin, July 3. A disastrous fire occurred at the Golden Fleece Hotel stables, Waikouaiti, yesterday morning. No less than fifteen horses —about half of which belonged to Messrs Cobb and Co. —were burned.
