A fancy dress ball was hold last, night in aid of the funds of the Dunedin Football Club. It was a great success. There were about 200 persons present. A somewhat interesting pi’occeding, the first of its kind under the Bankruptcy Act 1870, took place in the Judge’s Chambers yesterday. Mr Thomas Calcutt, who had refused to appear before the trustees in an insolvent estate, was brought up under warrant for examination as to his knowledge of the affairs of Joseph Cunningham, debtor, in Palmerston. Mr Calcutt was arrested in Palmerston, to be conveyed in custody to Dunedin, but the proceeding was made of a formal description by the direction which was issued from the Supreme Court that Mr Calcutt was not to be bi’ought in custody provided lie gave his word that he would attend the Court here. Of course Mr Calcutt did so.
