Saturday, June 30. For Wellington and Nelson, per Ringarooma, at 1 p.m.; late letters, 1.20p.m.; railway station, 3.30 p.m. train. Mails per Arawata will close as under: — For United Kingdom, via Southampton and Brindisi, at 1 p.m. ; late letters, 1.20 p.m. Australian Colonies and Southern Ports ot New Zealand, at 1 p.m. ; late letters, at 1.20 p.m. Point de Galle, India, China, and the East, Aden, M auritius, IS atal, Cape of Good Hope, Mediterranean Ports and Foreign Countries, via the United Kingdom, 1 p.m ; late letters, 1.20 p.m. For newspapers, money orders, registered letters, and book packets, noon. Lat> letters for mails per Arawata, can be posted in the guard's van, Christchurch Railway Station, up to 2.30 p.m. train on Saturday, June 30th, provided such letters bear, in addition to the full postage, a further single rate of postage as a late fee. Monday, July 2. For Northern Provinc s, per Bawea. For Otaeo, per Taranaki.
It is suggested that all letters intended for transmission by the British mails should be secured with gum or wafers, the use of sealing-wax having been found to cause delay in separating letters, and in some instances to lead to addresses on envelopes being rendered illegible.
