Some fresh charges of the illtreatment of patients have been made, these having happened, it is said, since the death of Mr Seagcr, before whose time, and under tha old management, similar charges were made. It was Mr Soager’s successor who lately levanted from Lyttelton, but it does not appear, fyom the brief telegram which we I have received, whether the charges relat e to [ him or otherwise. If personally extravagant he was generally credited with kindness. After his departure, Dr. Skae took charge of the institution, and last week a superintendent was appointed.
