BOARD OF HEALTH
Monday, June 11. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Board was held at 11.30 a.m. Present, Messrs Hobbs (chairman), Tailored, Duncan, Ross, Hall, and Harman. INSI'ECTOIt’S KEPOUT, Tlie report of the Inspector of Nuisances was read. He reported haying served notice on Mr W. Wilson to (ill up a hole where a large quantity of stagnant water had collected. In the Crescent road, St. Albans, he found the premises in a most deplorable state from want of drainage. Mr Hancock’s alterations in the soap and candle works had resulted in the abatement of the nuisance complained of. The report was considered ,s xriatim.
It was resolved to forward the clause referring to Crescent road to the Drainage Board, with a request that they would take immediate action in the matter.
As to the last clause of the report referring to Mr Hancock’s soap and candle works, the Inspector was directed to inform the persons in the neighbourhood signing the petition that if they were not satisfied with what been done they must again communicate with the Board. A NUISANCE. A letter was read from Mr Reese, calling attention to the nuisance arising from Mr Morrison’s slaughter yards on the Harewood road. The matter was referred to the inspector to report upon at next meeting. The Board then adjourned until Monday week.
