MAGISTRATES' COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, June 2. (Before Dr. Deamer and John Anderson, Esq., J.P.'s.) Indecent Exposure.-James Bell, arrested for this offence, was fined 20s. Drunk and Disorderly.—Annie Wharton, an old offender, arrested for drunkenness, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labor. Hugh Stayce was fined 10s and cab hire. Wm. Warner, who had been cautioned the previous day, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labor. Edward Jones was fined 10s, and an inebriate, who appeared for the first time, was fined ss. Larceny.—F. J. Tree was brought up on remand, charged with stealing a coat from tl • Mount Hutt Station. When arrested accused said he had taken the coat and disposed of it at Christchurch. Accused had been employed as'cook at the station in January last, and on leaving the coat was missed. The prosecutor identified the coat produced as one he had borrowed from MrMiddleton, Rakaia. Mr Middleton called, identified the coat as one he had lent the last witness. Had not authorised accused to obtain the coat from Mr Phillips. James Maurice called, stated that he bought the coat produced from the accused about a fortnight since, and gave him 10s for it. In reply to the Bench, accused said the coat had been picked up on the tussocks at the station by a man named John Montgomery, and handed to him. He hung it up in the* whare for some time, and as it was not claimed by any one, wore it in wet weather. When leaving the station he brought it away with him, and when he spoke to Mr Phillips in town he had it on his arm. Sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labor.
