MAGISTRATES' COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, May 29.

(Before C. Whitefoord, Esq., R.M.) Drunk and Disorderly.—W. A. Moss, who was still suffering from the effects of drink, was remanded to Ljttelton for eight days for medical treatment. Robert Tindall, arrested for being drunk, resisting Constable McDonald, and using obscene language, was fined 20s, and cautioned.

LYTTELTON. Tuesday, May 29. (Before W. Donald, Esq., E.M.) Drunkenness. —David Gardner and W. J : Nankarvis, arrested by Constable Devine, and Win. Coulter, arrested by Constable Bullen, were fined 10s each, or in defalt 48 hours. Henry Wade, arrested by Constable Moutray, was dismissed with a caution.

Larceny.—Wm. Harrison, on remand from Saturday last, was charged with stealing a

watch and chain, some sleeve links, and a pocket handkerchief from King's boardinghouse, belonging to Charles Allan. The property was valued at £2 10s. Sentenced to six weeks' imprisonment with hard labor. Affiliation.—David Leask, summoned by Jane Jameson for failing to support her illegitimate child, of which he was the father, was ordered to pay £5 arrears, 10s per week costs, and solicitor's fee. Mr ;H. N. Nalder appeared for complainant. BreachJof Waterman's Regulations.— George Messiter was accused of overcharging a servant of Mr R. Fleming, Port Levy, for taking her from Lyttelton wharf to Rhodes' Bay. Mr H. N. Nalder appeared for the plaintiff. It appeared £1 had been charged, 3s 6d being the regular fare. Messiter stated he had told the girl at the time he was very busy, and could not go, but she offered him a pound to go, and he consented. The girl denied that she had offered the pound, saying that Messiter had himseif proposed that she give him that sum. Messiter was fined 20s, costs, and solicitor's fee, Cattle Trespass.—A. Martin for having a horse astray was fined ss. „___
