BOARD OF EDUCATION.

Wednesday, May 2. A meeting of the Board was held at 3 p.m. Present —Messrs Inglis (chairman), Montgomery, G. W. Hall, H. R. Webb, W. Rolleston. NEW DISTRICT. A deputation from the portion of the province adjoining the Selwyn district waited on the Board with reference to the formation of a new district, so as to take in a part not yet included in any district. The number of children was stated as seventy-three. After some discussion, the deputation wore requested to forward further particulars for the information of the Board. TIMA UU. Mr Hall brought under the notice of the Board the very bad ventilation of the infant school at Timaru, necessitating the keeping open of both doors. Mr Hall was requested to visit the school again and report upon it. I BENTS OF KESEEVES. Mr Eolleston asked whether any arrangement had been made for the payment of educational rents P The chairman said that the Board had advertised that all rents should be paid to the Bank of New Zealand. The Board sanctioned the acceptance of the lender of Jones and Co., for £l6O, for | painting the Gloucester street school. £ EANGITATA ISLAND. | An application for a school to be erected on i the Eangitata Island was received, and stood j over for further consideration. \ WEST OXFOBD. ' The Board sanctioned the plans for additions to West Oxford school, subject to certain alterations as regarded the porches. STYX. The Board also sanctioned the plans for the additions to the Styx school, the committee to call for tenders. REGULATIONS. The Board then proceeded to further consider the regulations. After which it adjourned.
