The Turks have commenced bombarding Poti, Anaklia, and Galatz. The Riissian troops have occupied Ismail, on the bank of the Kilia. The Porte refuses to recognise the German protectorate of Russian subjects. The European Powers have rejected the Porte's proposal for mediation. Italy remains neutral. AUSTRALIAN. A supplement to the Gazette issued last night, contains rules and regulations, 282 in number, for the management of the N:w Zealand Railways. Teramakau Rush. Greymoutii, April 30. The prospects of the new rush on the north bank of the Teramakau are improving. Eight claims have been bottomed on good gold, and the supposed line of lead is pegged off several chains wide for nearly a mile. Should the shafts bottomed this week strike gold there will be a large rush. About 300 people arc on the ground. The Kumara and Greymouth Tramway Company commences running to-morrow. Mr Gisborne Elected for Totara. Hokitika, April 30. Great interest was taken in the election for the General Assembly to-day. Total returns from Ross, Woodstock, Donoghue's, and Redman's show a majority of twenty-one in favor of Mr Gisborne. 'The returns from further south are not yet to hand, but they cannot possibly affect the result, and Mr Gisborne's return may bo looked upon as certain.
