SUPREME COURT.

SITTINGS IN CHAMBERS. Friday, April 27. (Before His Honor Mi- Justice Johnston.) His Honor sat in the Court Chambers at 11 a.m. BUCHANAN V. JOBLIN. On the application of Mr J. Struthers Williams, the trial of this action was fixed for next civil sittings of the Court. RE JAMES SWINDELL. In this case Mr Bamford applied for the discharge of the debtor. His Honor made the order. RE WILLIAM AMOS AND THOMAS A. GATES. Orders of discharge were granted in these cases on the application of Mr Bamford. RE WM. H. MILLER. This was an application for payment of the debtor's costs out of the estate, which was granted. RE DAVID LILLY. Mr Slater applied for an order granting debtor's costs herein out of the estate. His Honor made the order. WILL OF GEORGE FREDERICK HOWARD, DECEASED. Mr Slater, for Mr Joynt, applied for an order granting probate to W. Buss and A. P. Parsons, as the executors named. His Honor made the order JUSTICE OF TnE PEACE ACT AND REGINA V. KELLS. This was an appeal against a conviction under the Diseased Cattle Act. A special case was stated for tho opinion of the Court, the defendant in the Court below being the appellant. Mr G. Harper for the appellant; Mr Duncan for the Crown. After hearing argument, his Honor quashed the conviction. DISTILLATION ACT AND RE JOHN HAMILTON. In this case Mr George Harper had obtained a rule nisi on April 20th, calling upon the gaoler at Timaru to show cause why a habeas should not issue to bring up the body of tho prisoner. Mr Duncan, for the gaoler, now showed cause. Mr G. Harper for Hamilton. After argument, his Honor took time to consider.
