[Per Press Agency.] INTERPROVINCIAL. Native Meeting at Kopua. Alexandra, April 25. The meeting yesterday at Kopua was the largest held for some time past. Tawahaio, Rewi, Manuhiri, and all the principal cliiefs, were present. The object of the meeting was to welcome the Lower Waikatos. The Governor replies to the unemployed petition-That the statements it contains surprise him ; and that his Government will furnish employment on railway works at rates higher than are obtainable in England. At the Land Board to-day Mr McGregor, C.E., applied to purchase the Tuakitilo and Kaitangata lakes, to reclaim them.
