A i'air business has been done during the week. On Friday Messrs Dalgety and Nichols held a lar<*e clearing sale, when a large quantity of merchandise was placed at fair prices. Tcnnant's ale, in stone and glass, fetched 10s Ud io 10s i)d ; pints, 7s Gd : Hennessv's brandy, in quarter-casks, (is 9d ; case, 32s Od; 'salad oil, pints, 10s ; 5s Gd was offered for half pints salad oil and refused; 8s Gd was the highest bid for Morton's pickles, refused; Albert's sardines, halves, fetched 8s 6d ; 5s was refused for quarters; 3d offered and refused for sago. The trade considered this a good price. No buyers were found for sugars. A large quantity of kerosene was placed, some 000 cases Devoe's and 1700 cans of Diamond, the former at 2s5M to2s 6d, the latter at 2s4|d. Lobsters brought 8s Gd: coarse salt. 80s; 12 quarter-casks Lemon Hart's rum sold for 3s 9d, and 30 quarter-casks Castle rum, at 3s 7d ; Castle rum, in case, brought 21s per case, in bond. A quantity of tea was offered, but boxes only found buyers, which fetched Is 2kl per lb : 4s 9d was offered and refused for McMincby's whiskey. The May, from Mauritius, with a cargo of sugar, arrived timely, as the market now is very bare. This is to be offered by auction on Monday.
