To-night will introduce some of the recent additions to Mr Hall’s company in the musical burletta of “ The Loan of a Lover,” and the burlesque of “ Black Eyed Susan.” Both pieces afford ample scope for the display of the talents of Mr Hall and his company, and we have no doubt such a bill will draw a good house,
JNkw Gas fitting . —An ingenious American invention has been introduced in Dunedin, by means of which the gas is turned and lighted by the same movement of the stopcock, thus doing away entirely with the use of matches. Affixed to the burner is a small magazine containing a paper tape, which is “ lava ” tipped. By a turn of the stopcock the strip, which is dotted with an ignition mixture, moves upwards, and at the same instant n small Immmer strikes one of the dots and creates a flash sufficient to ignite the gas, which is turned on by the same movement of the cock. The gas is turned off in the ordinary wav.
