MEETING OF DELEGATES. M.U.1.0.0.F.

The half-yearly meeting of delegates took place on Thursday at the old Hall of the City of Christchurch Lodge. Present —P.G.M. Wright, D.P.G-.M. Cameron, P.S. Harper, acting C.S. City of Christchurch —P.S. Harper, P.G. Rodgers, G-.M. Scalcy, P.G. Cox, and P.G. Jones. Kaiapoi—P.P.G.M. Clarke and N.G. Smith. Rangiora —P.P.G.M. Stevens, P.P.D.M. Robinson, and P.S. Ahornc. Volunteer —P.P.G.M. Ashton and N.G. Allard. Benevolent—P.G. Hulbcrt and P.G . Thompkins. Nil Despcrundum —P.G. Sedcole. Perseverance —P.G. Liddell. Cast — P.G. Morrison. Woodend —Gj-.M, Horrcll. Oxford —P.G. Conyers. Leith field —P.G. Simpson. Star of Waltham —P.G. Crowley. Ohoka—N.G. Taylor. Ambedcy— P.G, Crampton. The Southbvidge, Ashburton, and Doyleston Lodges were not represented. Fines were recorded against P.P.G.M. Parry, P.G. Allard, and P.G. Jones. The P.G.M., in opening the lodge, addressed a few words to the delegates assembled, and congratulated the district on the increase of both lodges and numbers. He stated that the valuations of the six oldest lodges (minus Rangiora) had arrived from England, and were eminently satisfactory.

Correspondence was read from P.P.G.M. Napier, stating that they did not wish to have t he lodge at Hororata opened at present. It was resolved, on the motion of P. P.G.M. Ashton, seconded by N. G. Smith {pro forma) , (bat the reports on the lodges sent out from England be printed with the report of the meeting. The balance-sheet was (lien read, received, and, after a short discussion, was unanimously adopted. Some extra accounts were then passed for payment. The meeting adjourned at 12.-13 for luncheon, and resumed at 1.15.

The first resolution was proposed by P.P.G.M. Ashton, seconded by P.G. Crampton, “That a rule be added to the district bye-laws empowering the district officers to levy the sum of Is. per member per annum for the purpose of forming an Oddfellows’ Scholarship.” Ordered to stand oyer fo,r. further consideration.

Tim following mot ion was then proposed by P.G. Ahornc, and seconded by P.D.P.G. Robinson —“ That a now district under the auspices and supervision of the M.UL0.0.F,, to bo called the ‘ Ashley District,’ bo formed, with boundaries as follows, viz.:—Towards the North by flip Amuri and Cheviot County boundaries from the source of the river Hurunni to its mouth ; towards the East by the Ocean to the mouth of the river Waimakariri; thence by a line along the centre of the river AVaimakariri to the confluence of the river Poulter ; by the centre of that river to its source; thence by a straight lino to the Saddle; and thence by a right line to the source of the river Hurunni, the starting point, including the whole of the Borough of Kaiapoi.” Resolution No. 8 was disposed of by empowering the district officers to qualify Y.G-. Bro. AYillis as N.G. of the Malvern lodge. N.G. Smith then proposed P.P.G.M. Taaffe as Provincial C.S., and P.G. Ahernc seconded the motion.

P.G. Rodgers proposed, and P.G. Allard seconded, P.S. Harper for the office of Provincial C.S.

On the ballot being taken, P.P.G.M. Taaffe was declared duly elected Provincial C.S. I).P.G.M. Cameron, P.G. Jones, P.G. Rodgers, P.G. Woodford, P.G. Cox, P.G. Thin, and P.G. Clcphane were nominated for the Provincial G.M.’s chair ; and P.G.’s Rodgers, Jones, Thin, Allard, Fraser, Cox, Woodliouse, Woodford, Crowley, Ward, Thompkins, Clophanc, Nichols, and R.W. Smith for the I).P.G.M.’s chair; and P.S. Harper for Provincial C.S. P.P.G.M. Taaffe was then installed Provincial C. 5.,, and returned the delegates thanks for their kindpess in returning him.

P.G. Allard was elected book examiner vie P.G. Jones, resigned.
