Durxiv AM) Disorderly.— An inebriate, who appeared for the first time, was fined ss, and Is cab hire. Patrick Butler, an o}d offender, was arrested for being drunk and creating a disturbance at Barrett’s Hotel. It p as shown that accused had gone into the bar in a state of intoxication, and because he was refused drink kicked up a disturbance and insulted all those who came into the house. Fined 40s, aiuj cautioned not to appear in Court again, or he would be dealt with in a different manner. Larceny vhoh a Dwelling-,— Qctavms Sparkys was charged xyitlr stealing a ring, the property of Mr Mild, from the Sawyers Arms Hotel. When arrested by Detective Walker accused said he had been drinking. Afterwards got the ring produced from Mr J. Wild. Mrs Wild called, gave evidence of accused having stayed at the hotel on Wednesday night. He went away about half-past nine next morning, and returned to dinner. About half-past two saw him coming out of her bedroom, and on asking him what he wanted there, he said he had mistaken the way out . Witness then went into the room and missed the ring produced out of one of the drawers. Saw the ring in the drawers the night before. Accused then left the house at once. Mr Wild called, stated that from what his wife had told him he followed accused, and came up to him at Fendaltown. Challenged him with the theft, when lie gave the ring up, and said he did not know what made 1 mu'take it. Brought the man back, and detained him at the hotel until the detective came. V allied the ring at L 3 10s. In reply to the Bench, accused acknowledged the offence, and begged the Bench to deal leniently with him, as he had unfortunately given way to a sudden temptation.
