April s—Courier, ketch, 31 tons, Sinclair, for Pigeon Bay. April s—Bee, schooner, 31 tons, Green, for Amur! Bluff. Master, agent. April s—Herald, schooner, 53 tons, Mackay, for Wellington. April s—Kestrel, ketch, 20 tons, Wyman, for Mclntosh Bay. April s—Annie, ketch, 14 tons, Foster, for Heathcotc. April s—Prosperity, brigantine, 134 tons, Payne, for Melbourne. The Prosperity sailed for Melbourne this morning, and the Herald for Wellington. The s s Arawata, Captain Underwood, left Melbourne at 3 p.m. on the 2sth March, and cleared Port Phillip Heads at 0.10 pm. Passed Swan Island at 11.40 a.m. next day. Experienced light south-west wind and fine weather during the run across. Passed the Solanders at 6.10 p.m. on the Ist April, and arrived at Bluff Harbor at 11 p.m. same nmht after a smart run of four days six hours. Discharged GO tons of cargo and sailed at 4.30 p.m. on the 2nd; arrived at Port Chalmers at 6 a.m. on the 3rd, discharged 220 tons of cargo, and sailed at 5 p.m; arrived at Lyttelton at 8.20 p.m. on the 4th. Light variable winds and very tine weather prevailed on the coast. The Arawata made the run from the Port Chalmers "Wharf to the Screwpile Wharf in 151 hours at easy regulation speed, ine weather was quite calm during the run. hi ic brought 30 tor. 3 of cargo for Lyttelton, and sailed lor Wellington and Nelson at 4 p.m. We have to thank Mr Miller, her purser, for tiles and report The s.b. Southern Cross left Napier on the ..Ht ult, at 5 p.m, hut was obliged to put back at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning, anchoring under Cape Kidnapoar at 0 p.m. same night for shelter from a stroii" - S gale. Lay there for 24 hours, getting under weigh on Monday evening, and experiencing thence till arrival yesterday, at 830 a.m, fair weather and light variable winds. Tho Southern Cro«a sailed last night for Raglan, at 4.45 p.m, with a cargo of sheep. LOSS OE THE SHIP INVERERNE. A private lotto” has been received in town from Mr Thomas Herding, who was third mate of the shin Invcrerno. conveying the intelligence of her total loss off the coast of Java. The officers and crew had barely time to take to the boats before the vessel became a wreck. The boat in which Mr Harding and seven of the crew were managed to reach land after being seven days almost entirely without food or water. After effecting a landing, thev managed to obtain some food, and then pished on to a Dutch settlement inland, which was readied after travelling for twenty-six days. The captain, lirst mate, and several of tho crew who wer" in another boat arc supposed to have been in-t. as no tidings have been heard of them, fho In v'l'crne was well known here, having made three vovages to Lyttelton under charter to the N.Z.S. Co. She left here about this time last year for Newcastle, and thence proceeded to Java. The names of those in the second boat supposed to be lust are: Captain Foreman, Mr Pender (chief officer R Mr W. Thomas (second officer), Mr Rlackrec (midshipman), John Miller (carpenter), Wm.
