1.0.G.T. PICNIC.

The following events came off after wo went to press yesterday : Girls’ Race, fifty yards (members of the Order) —Lillie Symonds, 1; Mary Peterson, 2. Married Sisters’ Race, fifty yards Mrs Brown, 1; Mrs Widgcly, 2. 440 Yards race, open to all comers; Ist prize, £5 ; 2nd, £1 —W. Pentecost, 1 son, 2. 200 Yards Elat race; members of the order —McWilliams, 1 ; McDonald, 2. Tea was liberally provided, the caterer being Mr Gee. After tea a number of merry sports and dancing were indulged in until half-past six, when the gardens were closed. An entertainment was given in the evening at the Templar Hall, Worcester street, which was crowded. Bro. S. P. Andrews, P.G.W.C.T., took the chair, and gave a short address, urging unity upon the order. Bro. Rev. IT. C. M. Watson also addressed the meeting, referring to and refuting several charges which had been made against Tcmplarv in the Synod at Nelson. Bro. J. T. Smith, late of Nelson, also spoke on the principles of the order. Songs were given by the Misses Rowley, and by Messrs Rowley, Nixon, and Ritchie. Mr Rowley sang “ Dearest, then I love you more,” and was encored, giving the “Death of Nelson.” Two very humorous comic songs were given by Mr Rowley, jun. The meeting broke up at ten o’clock, all agreeing that they had spent a pleasant day. j
