A large and influential deputation waited upon the Mayor and Mr Keid this morning, in reference to the Gloucester. Great dissatisfaction was expressed at the action of Government in the matter, and of the proposal to land the Chinamen on the Quarantine Island. The Mayor said if this was done small-pox would be sure to be introduced into the colony. Mr Reid promised to take the advice of the medical men in the matter. Port Chalmers, March 27.
