Produce prices are as follows ; Flour, old, £ls 10s to £l6 ; oats, 2s lOd to 3s ; bran, Is to Is Id ; pollard, 7s to 8s ; maize, 5s 6d to 6s : cheese, 6£d to 8d; hams and bacon, 4d to lOd ; potatoes, £4. The Cabinet have issued instructions to the several departments occupying the new Government Buildings that, while the present office hours, 9.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m are still to be kept, the custom of allowing a half-hour’s absence for luncheon is to be discontinued, and no one, during office hours, will be allowed to leave the buildings with out special permission. An adjacent building will be used as a refectory, where Government officers may obtain refreshment. Government will give £2OO towards furnishing the room and providing culinary requirements. Smoking is strictly prohibited in any part of the buildings. These regulations will come into force as soon as the heads of departments have made the necessary arrangements. Sailed —Alb ambra. INTERPROVINCIAL. THE SUSPECTED MURDER AT INVERCARGILL. Taupo, March 22. The meeting to-day was occupied by the different sections of tribes arranging the programme of proceedings for to-morrow, when the real business commences. Invercargill, March 22. The inquiry as to the cause of the death of Thomas Casserley, commenced yesterday, was resumed at 10 o’clock to-day, and concluded this afternoon. The jury returned a unanimous verdict as follows : —" That the deceased came by his death through wilful violence, and that the evidence implicated John Monaghan as the cause of such violence.” A rider was added “ That the jury desire to express strong disapprobation of the behaviour of Silk and his wife, in hastily removing evidences which might materially assist the inquiry, thereby tending to defeat the ends of justice.”
