MB SEVERN’S LECTURES. Last night thia gentleman gave the third of his series of lectures in the Oddfellows’ Hall, the subject being "Spectrum Analysis.’’ There was a very poor attendance, the inclemency of the weather no doubt preventing many from being present. The lecturer, in the course of his remarks, briefly referred to the Newtonian theory, termed the “ Emission” theory, of light, and to the experiments of Newton in his endeavors to establish this theory. After which he referred to the successful refutation of the Newtonian theory by Thomas Young, in his discovery of the undulating action of light coming from the bub, and proceeded to illustrate
