Oharlwood sue corded Hill and sent him to leg for 2 Oharlwood broke his duck’s egg and drove Hey wood to long on, and cut Howell for 2 The bowling and fielding were excellent, Oharlwood was then given'out 1 b w, in tbe second ball of the next over, amidst enthu-siasm-^—4—ll. Selby followed, and sen; the two first to leg, which the good fielding prevented him scoring. Jupp then skied Howell, which wag well caught by J. Mom-
son—3—4 —12. Ulyett was the next man and he received a maiden from Hey wood. Selby got a good hit to leg for 2, which he repea'ed next ball, and Ulyett out him for 1. .1 Wesnty relieved Howell, Jupp cutting him, but not running, the ball being beautifully returned. Levey then secured Ulyett’a dismissal—4 Selby, and commenced by a clever stolen iim. A heavy squall now cansid a stampede to the pavilion, oat in ten minutes play was resumed. Greenwood slipped 1, following it iiy a hit to leg for 3 Another single, and then Kelby got away 2. A maiden from v r eeney followed, and Bel by cut a single, Greenwood following suit. Be!by than skied Weeney to leg, and a collision eventuating, he was missed, which was revenged by a good hit to leg for 2 ; Selby did the same. A few singles lollowed, and then a maiden; Heywood and Ross relievingWesney. Greenwood clipped a single, and made a leg hit for 2; Selby added two more singles, Ross then gave Greenwood a maiden; Selby getting another to leg for 2 and a single, Wesney took Hey wood’s end, Greenwood getting a single and a double to leg. Huns now came fast, and the field was fully occupied. After stealing 1, Greenwood sent P.oss outside the ground for 4. Selby snicked 1, Greenwood getting 2 away to leg. This seemed a favorite spot, the score standing—s—4o—74. Singles followed quickly, when Greenwood again sent Ross over the fence for 4. 11. Wesney took the ball from J. Wesney. Selbv received a maiden, and Greenwood gave chance to long on, which was badly missed. Wesney nest bowled a maiden. Howell took Boss’s place, Greenwood adding two singles and a double, and Selby a single. Time was then called, the scores standing— Jupp, 1,1, cJ. The attendance is double that of yesterday. At 12.45 play was resumed. The weather improved. Haywood took the first over, a maiden, Howell at the opposite end. Selby attempting a leg hit was well caught at the wickets by Buchanan—s—27—9l. Shaw appeared next. The bowling at this part of the match was excellent, five consecutive maidens being bowled. Greenwood drove Howell to long on for Singles followed. Shaw gave a chance to cover point that was missed, he then cut for 2. Greenwood made a hit to leg for 4, and then another single, the telegraph then showing 110. Greenwood skied to long leg, but through a collision iu the field he was missed. He followed with another skier to long on, which was also missed. Shaw then placed the ball in Howard’s hands behind the bowler, which was accepted. 6—(i —H 1. Armitage followed Greenwood, drove the ball over the bowler’s head for 2, and another to long on for 4. Arimitage got the next to leg for 3. Reade now took Howell’s place, Armitage cutting the first ball for 2; Greenwood likewise added more singles, and Haywood then clean bowled him—7 —66—l3s. Emmett followed, and was quickly disposed of, being run out. 8 but had to retire at first ball, being caught and bowled by Reade. 9—0—136. Southerton, the last man, took his place and cut Reade for 1, Southerton adding two singles, when time was called for luncheon.
