" According to instructions received from the Board I have advertised the Ferry road cewer fo" tender in Chrislchurch, Dunedin, Wellington. "On examining the inside of the brick outfall sswer I find it to be very insecure, •ind requiring immediate attention. About six chaius she uld be backed up with concrete, or otherwise strengthened, the cost will be £SO or £6O a chain,
" T would recommend a trapped gulley to be built at the corner of Tuam and E. belt as the etiK'H from the silt pit passing up the pipes annoys the residents there, and the silt t-it cannot be removed until gullies are made to all the sewers that lead into it. '• I would recommend as a tempmry measure extending the line of pipes draining part of Salisbury street, as complaints are made of reople annoying their neighbors by their artesian wafer, for which they have no proper drainage. " About 600 barrels of cement have been stored at the gas woks, it is apparently new •;nd in good condition. " I have issued circulars asking for the price of pipes and clay invert blocks, as directed by the Board,
" I have sent to Wellington the calculations of quantities required to the co3t of the drainage echeme, as far as the plans go, which wf re in this office. " I have the honor to remain, "C. A letter wag read from Mr White, New Zealand Pipe Works, Duuedin, stating that he wag prepared to supply ptpea for the drainage of Christcburch.
