ROAD BOARDS.

AVON. A meeting of the Board was held on February 26th, Present, all the members except Mr Dickenson. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The report of the surveyor was read (in his absence through an accident), received, and adopted. It was resolved—“ That the footbridge over the Avon be gone on with by labour of the Board, under supervision of carpenter, as per report.” Resolved —“ That parties interested in Vague’s road be informed that on its dedication half chain wide all through the Board will consider the matter.” Mr Sisson waited on the Board, asking that footpath be continued to school road. Resolved—‘That water table on south side of road be attended to, and that Mr Sisson be informed that the Board will probably have material at their command shortly, and if so will consider the proposal to continue the footpath,” Resolved—- “ That theßoard acknowledge letter from Biccartn Boad Board, and accept charge of Division road in terras mentioned in their letter.” A letter was read from Mr Stapleton re Bing’s road. Resolved—“ That the clerk be instructed to write to Mr Stapleton in the matter.” Letter was read Mr Fitzgibbon and another re bridges over mill race.” Resolved —“ That owners of mill race be written to on the subject.” Letter was read from Mr Deßourbel, asking permission to place horse bridge over Dudley’s Creek at his own expense. Permission was granted, subject to approval of the surveyor to the Board. Resolved —"That Mr Knight be informed that the Board consider the present drain sufficient.” Mr Wild interviewed the Board relative to Sawyer’s Arms road. Resolved—“ That the previous offer of the Board be confirmed as to paying £1 per chain for fencing, and that no other offer will be made.” A letter was read from Mr F. Smith re forming Codling’s road. Mr Smith be informed that nothing can be done unless the road is made half a chain wide throughout. Resolved—“ That A. Philpot’s road be formed with material from side of road, and tenders be invited accordingly.”
