Bhaw was the next, and, after scoring 8, was clean bowled by Eden—five for 218. Emmett followed, and quickly scored 9, and was cleverly stumped by Cross. Hill took his place, but was soon disposed of in an unusual way, Greenwood, from the other end, hitting the ball towards his wicket, into which it was turned by the bowler's arm, Hill being out of his ground at the time—seven for 236. Pooley then took the bat, and with Greenwood kept the field alive for some time, until the latter put up a ball off Fowler into Enapp's hands, after scoring 42 —eight for 258. Lillywhite followed, but at the first ball was stumped by Cross off Ellis. Southerton was then caught at his first ball by Halliday off Ellis—all out for 258, which included 3 byes and 10 wides. Nelson sent Halliday and K. Knapp to the wicket at five, and at the eighth over Knapp was bowled by Shaw, after making I. Hyde followed, and he and Halliday kept their wickets till half-past five, when the stumps were drawn, the score being 11, including 5 byes.
