LYTTELTON HARBOR BOARD.

The Board met in the Provincial Council Chamber at 2 p.m yesterday. Present— Messrs Richardson (in the chair), Aynsley, Harman, Cunningham, Srwtell, Craig, Anderson, Rouse, Hall, Wright.

SEAL. The chairman stated that he hsd procured a temporary seal for the use of the Board Cn the motion of the Hon John Hall, it was resolved that the seal submitted by the chairman be adopted as the seal of the Board until further provision is made in that behalf. Several designs for a permanent seal were received from Messrs Coates and Co and Mr Sandutein. Messrs Coates and Co’s design No 7 (to be slightly altered) was adopted. BYE-LAWS. Mr Harman brought up the report of the committee appointed to frame bye-laws, which recommended that the accompanying draft of bye-laws should be adopted. The draft was read, and several alterations suggested. Mr Wright moved that twenty-four copies of the bye-laws be printed and placed in the hands of members for consideration at next meeting. COBBESPONDENOB, The chairman read a telegram from the Hon 0. C. Bowen, in answer to a letter sent by the chairman, stating that the Board could have the use of the Council Chamber for its meetings, if arrangements were ma le so that the meetings of the Board and the belwyn County Council would not clash. A letter was read from Mr Bolleston, stating that the Board could have the use of the Council Chamber for its meetings, when not required by the Selwyn County Council. A letter was read from Messrs Hawkins and Co, offering the Board certain plant at a stated price. The consideration of the matter was deferred until next meeting of the Board. Correspondence was read to the effect that the Government handed over to the Board the dredge and barges in Lyttelton Harbor, Certain repairs were necessary; and if so desired by the Board, the Government would instruct Mr Thornton to have the repairs carried out immediately, on the understanding that the expense would be paid by the Board. On the motion of Mr Sawtell, seconded by Mr Wright, it was resolved that Mr Rolleston’s offer, on behalf of the General Government, be accepted. BE VENUE PROM WHAKPAGE. The Chairman stated that from a return which had been furnished to him it appeared that the revenue from the Government wharves, Lyttelton, for 1876, amounted to jg 16,262. Me had endeavored to ascertain the coat of collection. A return sent in that afternoon stated that the cost for the months of January, February, and March of the same year amounted to £I2OO, The other sources of revenue the Board had were licenses from watermen and ballast lighters.

The Chairman was authorised to enter into communication with the General Government relative to the wharves being taken over by the Harbor Board,
