The English Cabinet have deferred coming to any resolution in regard to the question of the occupation of Bulgaria, pending the reference of the matter to the Queen. IN TERPEO VINCI AL. Dunedin, December 26. The Fire Brigade demonstration was held to-day on the Caledonian grounds, and was attended by about 6000 people. The procession comprised the Dunedin Fire Brigade, the visiting teams, the friendly societies, and three ledges of Orangemen, who marched without banners. The first event on the programme was a hose competition, the first prize for which was a silver cup, value second prize a watch, and the third two branches. In the preliminary competition Dunedin beat Timaru, and Auckland beat Hokitika. Ballarat was successful in drawing, and without competition obtained the right to take part in the final heat. In Tuning off the heats Dunedin beat both Ballarat and Auckland, and thus won the first prize : Auckland was second, and Ballarat third In the engine competition, first prize, a

clock, valued at £ls, and eight silver medal*, second prize, field glass, £5 ss. the result was Ballarat, first ; Dunedin, second ; Titnaru, third ; Auckland, fourth ; Hokitika, fifth. In the ladder and hose practice, first prize a cup, value £ls, and eight silver medals ; second trophy, value £6 5s; —Ballarat was first ; Hokitika, second ; Dunedin, third ; Auckland, fourth ; and Timaru, fifth.
