FAKING A PAR.
To the Editor of the Globe. Sir, — It is within my x’ecollection what magnificent capital under the above elegant heading your evening contemporary made out of a musical notice which appeared in a morning paper, wherein a lady conspicuous by her absence received warm praise from the too-confiding critic. Reading with deep interest a notice of the “Messiah” which appears to-day in the Lyttelton Times, I read as follows ;—“ The first portion of ‘ He shall feed His flock ’ was given by Mrs Innes with, smoothness, expression, and good taste.” And no doubt it certainly would have been, only the lady wasn’t there. The first time I happen to drop across that gentleman who possesses to such an eminent degree the faculty of invention, I’ll immediately take a hold of both hands, and respectfully wish him many happy x’eturns. Yours, &c., CHONKIEZEE, Jun.
