THE MAYORALTY.

To the Editor of the Globe. Sir, —It has been reported to me that some exception is taken to that part of my address, wherein I say that I cannot understand any gentleman coming forward in opposition to the wishes of the Council, as experience must tell him that if he were elected his position would be extremely uncomfortab'e and prejudicial to the interests of the City. I beg to say these remarks were intended to be read with the context, and in allusion to my own position this time last year, and in no way to be understood as affecting my opponent. I trust this explanation will be entirely satisfactory to the Burgesses. Yours, &c, C. T. ICK,
