The M. 0.0.0. finished their match of Eleven t Twenty-two on Saturday last. The latter resumed their second innings—having made 63 for the loss of eleven wickets. Fairhnrst, who had made a stand on the previous Saturday, only added one to his total, and with the exception of Pavitt, who was playing as a substitute, cone of the rest troubled the Eleven much. Pavitt put together 20, and made a few good hits, but most of his runs were obtained in the slips. The total at the fall of the last wicket being 101. The Eleven then had to make 69 to win. This seemed at one time very doubtful, as they soon lost four wickets for 33, and had only eight wickets to fall, in consequence of several players being absent. However, J. Fowler and Sweet made a good stand, and 64 appeared on the board at the fall of the latter, who tried to make a half volley of a good pitched ball. Dixon had a merry innings while it lasted, making two good hits for 4 each. E. Fowler, substitute, soon put together 12, chiefly singles, before a mistake caused his retirement, and J. Fowler was not out for a well played 51, made up by a 4, three 3's, ten 2's, &c. His defence was very good, and his hitting well judged, but with Bo many in the field, it was difficult to obtain more than one or two runs for any hit.
