Friday, December 8. (Before G. L. Lee and H. Belfield, Esqs, J.IVs.)
Drunk and Disoderly— Daniel Pasche, charged with being drunk, assaulting, and resisting Sergeant Hughes, was lined £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment; accused was also ordered to pay 2s cab hire. James Dooley, for being drunk, committing an act of exposure, and resisting the arresting constable, was fined £2 and Is cab hire. Thomas
Preston, for drunkenness, and who had been before the Court several times before, was fined £2, or seven days’ imprisonment. An inebriate who appeared for the first time was fined ss. LYTTELTON. Friday, December 10. (Before W. Donald, Esq, R.M.) ASSAULT —Isaac Buit, a resident in the Heatbcote Valley, was charged by his wife Elizabeth Burt, with violently assaulting her. Mr H. N. Nalder appeared for complainant. The evidence of complainant showed that last Sunday accused came home from Lyttelton at night, quarrelled with her, threw a mustard pot and a knife at witness, knocked her down, and kicked her and pulled out her hair. Accused also turned her out of the house on the previous night, threatened her with the poker, and incited her children to swear at her. A number of witnesses were < x unified, from whoso evidence and that of defendant, it appeared that accused and his wife lived in n state of perpetual hot water. Accused was bound over to keep the peace in bis own recognizance for £25 for six months. A protection order was granted to Mrs Burt.
