CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, December 4. (Before G. L. Hellish, Esq, R.M.) Drone and Committing an Assault.— Charles Brown, for being drunk and committing an assault in view of a constable, and assaulting the police in the execution of their duty, and with wilful destruction of Government property, was fined 20s, and 20s damages. Drunk and Disorderly. —An inebriate, for being drunk and disorderly while in charge of a horse and cart, was fined I Os, and ordered to pay 10s damages. For being drunk and disorderly, two inebriate were fined ss, one 10s, and one discharged with a caution. LYTTELTON. Monday, December 4. (Before W. Donald, Esq., R.M.) Using Obscene and Profane Language. —John Lewis, arrested by Constable Devine, and charged with having committed the above offence on Norwich Quay on Sunday evening, was fined 20s, or in default fortyeight hours’ imprisonment, with hard labour. Attempting to Rescue a Prisoner.— William Matthews was charged by Constable Devine with attempting to rescue the prisoner Lewis while in his custody on the previous evening. The Bench dismissed accused with a caution.
