DUNEDIN SPRING MEETING. [By Telegraph.] (From a correspondent of the Press.) Second Day—lst December. The following are the particulars of each event; Handicap Hurdle Race of 50 sovs. Entrance, 2 sovs; two miles and a distance ; over ten flights of hurdles 3 feet 6 inches high. Mr H. Gouriay’s ch g Kildare, by Milton, aged, lOst 41b (J. Cotton) 1 Mr T. McKay’s ch g Banjo, aged, list 71b (T, McKay) 2 Mr Swanson’s ch g Te Kooti, aged, 10st 81bs, including 151bs overweight, (J. McGregor) 0 Mr McLareu’s b g Darkie, 5 yrs, Oat ... 0 Betting—-6 to 4 agst Kildare, 3 to 1 agat Banjo. At the fall of the flag Tc Kooti went at once to the front, but coming too faat at the first hurdle fell. Banjo and Kildare jnmped it together, and took up the running in company. Darkie lay back about three lengths, but fell at the second hurdle. The race now lay between Banjo and Kildare, who led alternately to a quarter of a mile from home, when the weight began to tell on the former, At the last turn Kildare came away, and won a good race by a couple of lengths. Time—4min 49secs. President’s Handicap of 80 sovs, with a sweep of 2 sovs ; the amount accruing from the sweep to go to the second horse ; one mile and a half; nomination 2 sovs ; acceptance 2 sovs, Mr G. Coombe’s br h Right Bower, by the Peer, out of Madge, aged, 7st, (G. Smith) 1 Mr Yecnd’s br h King Philip, 5 yrs, Bst 61b (D. Jones) 2 Mr Walter’s br c Isaac Walton, 4 yrs, Sat 31b (Oantell) 3 Fishhook and Steamer were scratched, and the following also ran :—Rob Roy, 7st 41b ; Glengarry, 6st 51b ; Wild Deer, 6st 51b. Betting—6 to 4 agst the King and Isaac Walton, 4 to 1 agst Rob Roy. A fair start was made, which King Philip made the most of, but he was quickly supplanted by Rob Roy who went at once to the front, followed by Isaac Walton. To these succeeded Wild Deer and Right Bower in the order named, Glengarry bringing up the rear. They ran thus to the staud, when Isaac Walton was in charge of affairs with Wild Deer on his quarters, the King third, and Right Bower two lengths behind. At the back of the course the Bower gradually came through his horses and a quarter of a mile from home closed with King Philip, Isaac Walton, and the Deer. The four raced together to the rails, when Isaac Walton and the Deer were disposed of. Right Bower and King Philip ran a capital race home, the former winning eventually by about two lengths. Time—2miu 53secs. Railway Plate of 35 sovs—Entrance, 2 sovs ; one mile and a distance ; weight for ago. Mr T. Logan's b c Dead Heat, by Traducer—Misfortune, 3 yrs, 7st 61bs (J. Allen) 1 Mr H. Goodman’s hr h Tadmor, 5 yrs, Oat 61bs (Owner) 2 Betting—6 to 4 against Tadmor. After one false start, Mr Dodson sent the pair fairly away, Dead Heat cutting out the work. At the first turn, however, Tadmor was on terms with him, and the two raced together to the back of the course, when Allen took a pull at Dead Heat, and letting the colt out at the last turn, he came away, and, increasing his lead at every stride, won comfortably by two lengths. Time—3min 10J secs. Grand Stand Handicap of 40 sova; one mile and a quarter; nomination, I sov; acceptance, I sov, Mr Walters’s br h Kingfisher ( Dainty Ariel—Fanny Fisher), 6 yrs, Bst (CanteD) 1 Mr Stephenson’s b g Steamer, 4 yrs, 6st 41b (Allen') 2 Mr Smith’s b g Haphazard, aged, 7st 71b (T. Allen) 3

The following also ran:—Sir William, 7st; Flying Beaury, 7st; Rosina, 6st; Master Playfair, sat 71b. Fishhook and Isaac Walton were scratched. Betting—Even money Kingfisher, 3 to 1 agst Steamer, 4 to 1 the rest. Steamer cut out the work from the jump, with Kingfisher and Haphazard in close attendance. Flying Beauty was left at the post, and was never able to make up her lost ground. Steamer cut out the work to half a mile from home, where Rosina was out of it, and the favorite closed with Steamer. The three ran together to the last turn, where Haphazard’s bolt was shot. A tremendous race now ensued between Kingfisher and Steamer, both being ridden out to the last inch, The favorite, however, just landed it on the post by a'short halflength. Time—2min 3sec, Hack Race of 15 sovs ; open to all horses ; post entry 1 sov; one mile; catch weights. The winner to be sold by auction for 20 sovs, any surplus to go to the funds. Dolly Varden 1 Welke 2 Consolation Handicap of 20 sovs; post entry 1 sov ; one mile. Mr Goodman’s ch g Glengary, aged, 7st (J. Allan) 1 The following also ran Wild Deer, 6st 81bs ; Miss Elswick, 6at 51b ; Steamer, 6st 101 b ; Tadmor, 9st 21b; Darkie, fist 51b ; Sir William, Tst 121 b, Betting—6 to 4 agst Tadmor, 3 and 4to 1 agst the rest. The lot got well away together, Steamer and Glengarry rushing to the front, with Sir William in close attendance. At the turn Glengarry seemed to be disposed of, but he came again and won a good race by a short length. This brought a very pleasant meeting to an end.
