FINAL HEAT—PRESIDENT’S CUP.

The final heat of the President’s Cup, 0.R.C,, took place last evening,and resulted, as we anticipated, in a victory for what is termed the boys crew. This victory is well deserved, the boys pulling excellently together, and besides this, they have given great attention to their training for the race. The utmost credit is due to them and to Mr J. Knox, their coach, for the manner in which they came to the post. They were in the fittest condition possible, and showed their form by winning the heat with any amount of lengths to spare. The other crew were deficient in staying power after stroke and No 3, and could scarcely be said to he in the race after the start, as the boys had it all their own way. That the victory should go to Foods’ crew is matter for congratulation, as they have spared no time or trouble to render themselves fit,

We append details of last night’s racing—--0,B:0, President’s Cup.— Pour oared outriggers with cox ; about two miles. Tamesis, north bank—(A. Lean, lOst 31b, bow ; Lanauze, lOst 51b. 2 ; Martin, lOst 91b, 3; Foots, 10s 31b, stroke;

Dixon, cox ... Illysaus, south bank—(J. 0. Morris, lOst 61b, bow ; W. Morris,’: list 51b. 2; L. Ollivler, 12st 81b, 3; J. O. Jones,

lOst 61b, stroke; Mann, cox) 2 On the word being given to go the Tamesis was first to catch the water, and after a few strokes had been gone she assumed the lead by three lengths. After passing Pratt’s corner the Tamesis crew quickening their stroke increased the lead, and ultimately drew away, winning easily by any number of lengths. The boys pulled excellently throughout; both stroke and swing were good, and their victory was hailed with any amount of cheering-from the spectators on the bank.
